I think the second one is a Twingo but I can't place the first. VW Polo? Seems too small though.

The first one is a Fiat something... an Uno maybe? Or a Mobi?

Update... it’s a Fiat 600

I saw the chrome ring on the back but I mistook that for a VW emblem and didn’t notice the 600 text. I didn’t know they kept up that naming scheme so long.

The first one is a Fiat Seicento with a Renault Twingo Mk2 (pre-facelift, c.2007-2011) in front.

Hey, I got one right. The Fiat is pretty obscure on this side of the Atlantic.

Ye’, the second pic is a Renault Twingo Mk1.

Kinja'd!!!

I hate the new Twingo (Mk3).

Mk1, front engine, fwd, 3 door,

Mk2, front engine, fwd, 3 door,

Mk3, rear engine, rwd, 5 door.

Why? The Mk3 goes against the Mk1 and 2.

FIAT Seicento and Twingo! Two of my favorite small cars! :D

Well, i don’t like the second generation ( but really like both the others) because it was blander and more conventional :)

Well. I liked the Mk2 pre-facelift because though bland, it looked like it was an evolution of the Mk1, the facelifted Mk2 looked like a Twingo had mated with a Nissan Juke or Citroen C1.

The Mk3 just looks wrong. A neighbour across has a black one and the pinstripe irks me as it slopes up after the front wing, then slopes down at the C pillar.

How can you hate a quirky affordable rear engined car with far more soul than most modern cars? I very much like the mk 3 Twingo.

I think the mk 3 is far more in the spirit of the mk 1 than the mk 2. The second one was a little bit bland looking while the new one and the old one are quirky and soulful.

Where the engine means nothing to me.

I like my quirky city hatches to be fwd and front engined.

So you don’t like Smarts either? I live rear engined cars but you don’t have to share that passion to see the space saving appeal of the Twingo. I wonder if you would like it more under a different name.

I used to like the old Smarts, but the new one, like the Twingo Mk3, does nothing for me.

I’ve never been a, ‘it’s not a proper car unless it’s RWD’, or, ‘two litre, no, it’s under powered, it needs to be a six litre V8 f or my daily car ( 30mph commute to work each day)‘, etc...

I just like that they did something unusual and unexpected that seems to actually work well for the application. Odd they never made other use of the platform and engine combo for a different small city car. Maybe some sort of sporty roadster thing.

Plus, I like the way they look. O f course they are also forbidden fruit and that rights MOST wrongs.

It’s just so well packaged! And it’s not boring , that I think you can concede. It’s an interesting and unusual take on the affordable city car even if it does have 5 doors.

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

I don’t think it has any less character than the original from the rear view , though the front on the new one is more derp than cute and smiling. I think it takes the concept of the original into the modern day in a fun and unusual way.

Kinja'd!!!

I mean you can’t deny it’s more characterful than the second one, engine placement preferences aside. You don’t have to exactly want one but I admire a left field move like moving to rear engine.

A friend had a pre-facelift Mk2 (like the red one but in black) and I loved how small and practical it was, everything was in the right place, etc... the rear seats could be moved back and forward from within the boot area for if you needed more luggage space, etc... and it was nibby around town. I loved it.

Good thing the driving dynamics were good as I don’t like the front end treatment on it and the rear is a little bland. There’s a lot to like about the mk2 but the styling didn’t feel like a Twingo from this end of the Atlantic. I think we can agree to disagree here.

The Twingo Mk2 (or Phase 2) (2011-2014), had a more Twingo Mk3 face and the rear got a slight freshen up.

Not having 5 doors was the weak point on the first and second generations as city cars as it made it have longer and heavier doors which are a bad thing when parking on tight spots.

I don’t mind it being a four door but I don’t have much experience getting into and out of two doors vs four doors. I remember it being quite easy to get in the back of a two door Gold but that’s about it.

It’s not even about going in the back but even the front seats are more problematic so open when you are parked close to a well of another car.

That makes sense. I always wondered about the Veloster’s decision to put the two doors on the passenger side.
